Decision:

To cease the out of hours service supported by the Dog Wardens as part of the Street Scene Team.

Reasons for the decision:

Service unsustainable based upon two officers providing a 24/7 stray dog service.

Alternative options considered:

Stray dog service is not a statutory requirement, like Colchester Borough Council option considered  to provide NO out of hours service, however rejected as would result in negative publicity and public dissatisfaction, current boarding kennels happy to accept (not return) stray dogs direct from finders.
