Issue details
To facilitate the construction of a
replacement access ramp and the replacement of around 25 metres of
the short wall at the northern part of The Naze. The replacement
short wall is part of the continuing fight against coastal erosion
to protect Hamford Water and the surrounding area. Failure to
repair the wall would result in Cormorant Creek being overwhelmed
by the sea, wiping out significant natural habitat and putting at
risk properties and businesses around the Hamford Water area.
The project is tidal dependent, subject to a licence from the
Marine Management Organisation (in the final stages of the
application) and can only be carried out in September/October or
May/June due to wildlife and bird restrictions in the area.
The collaboration agreement will provide grant funding from the
Environment Agency towards the project.
