Issue details
(1) Following a successful funding bid to the
Office of the Police Fire and Crime Commissioner for funding to
improve the CCTV provision and lighting in Clacton from the Safer
Streets Fund 2022-23) to now carry out the upgrade the existing
CCTV camera system in Clacton Town Centre as this is the area that
has been identified as a crime hotspot, including Serious Violence,
Knife Crime, ASB and feelings of safety around Violence Against
Women and Girls;
(2) To decide the nine existing cameras that will be upgraded and
where a further 28 cameras will be installed;
(3) To decide where seven new camera poles will be sited and will
have new cameras installed;
(4) To decide where improved lighting will be installed around
seafront shelters and gardens; and
(5) Following a successful procurement exercise carried out by
Essex County Council Procurement Team, to authorise the Assistant
Director (Partnerships) to enter into a contract with the
successful tenderer to upgrade and install new CCTV cameras under
the Safer Streets Programme.
