The public toilets on the middle promenade below Connaught Gardens East were demolished in the early 2000s and never replaced, despite the presence of the nearby Beaches café, the termination point of the land train which runs between the pier and Beaches café and numerous beach huts, all of which attract visitors to this location. As it is no longer served by public toilets, the public are using the sea, beach, cliffs and the Gardens area to relieve themselves.
The seafront is the jewel in the crown for Clacton and needs to be presented as such.
Not having basic amenities, does nothing to enhance the
public’s perception of the area.
