The Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth, Regeneration & Tourism commended the success of The Clacton Air Show 2025:
“I am pleased to share the success of the 2025 Clacton Air Show held on the 21st and 22nd August. This year’s theme was ‘Legends of the Sky’ and it celebrated aviation heritage and innovation. It drew hundreds of thousands of visitors to Clacton celebrating thirty-two years of spectacular flying displays. Thanks to near-perfect weather, we enjoyed breathtaking aerial performances across both days, including the return of The Red Arrows, who thrilled crowds with their precision and energy. A particular moving moment came with the Mustang Tribute Flight honouring ‘Little Zippy’ a P-51D lost off Clacton eighty years ago. Now preserved at the East Essex Aviation Museum. The twilight display lit up the skies with Otto the Helicopter, The Firebirds and Moonbeam McSwine, creating a magical evening for families and aviation enthusiasts. On the ground, West Greensward hosted a replica Chinook Helicopter, military careers stands and artisan stalls, offering something for everyone.
For the first time, the show was livestreamed via AeroView TV and BBC Essex Radio Airshow provided live commentary throughout. We were proud to welcome representatives from the Civil Aviation Authority, who praised the event’s organisation and the Strategic Resilience Advisor for the Eastern Region, who commended our Gold, Silver and Bronze response. In addition, Councillor Stephenson and I, along with the Chief Executive were able to welcome Leaders from Braintree and Colchester, highlighting the Air Show’s regional impact and pride we take in hosting it. The Air Show is estimated to generate twelve million pounds for the local economy, supporting tourism, hospitality and retail. It remains one of the largest free-to-attend events in the region, fostering civic pride and community spirit.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported and helped make this event possible. Some of those thanks should go to our sponsors; Matthew Homes, Orsted Gunfleet Sands Wind Farm and Red Nova Solutions. To our local residents, especially those who are near the West Greensward, thank you for your continued support. We are working with Ward Councillors to ensure future Air Shows remain a positive experience for all. Special thanks to our multi-agency partners; Essex Police, East of England Ambulance Service, Essex Fire and Rescue, HM Coastguard and TSA Consulting – our flight director consultants, and of course, to all of our Tendring District Council Staff and colleagues across the services who work all year round to deliver this event, and also for all their hard work throughout the two days supporting the event. Their dedication is truly appreciated.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2026 Clacton Air Show taking place on the 27th and 28th August.”
