Purpose:
To give consideration to the Government’s request that local authorities adopt the IHRA’s working definition of antisemitism in relevant policies and procedures.
Decision:
(a) To formally adopt, on behalf of Tendring District Council, the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism.
(b) To formally request that the definition is included in any future policy updates and working practices to reflect the Council’s adoption of the working definition of antisemitism.
Reasons for the decision:
Having received a formal request from the Government to adopt the IHRA’s definition of antisemitism and to reflect this in the Council’s policies and working practices.
Alternative options considered:
Not to adopt the IHRA’s working definition of antisemitism.
