Purpose:

On the 20th August 2025, the previous tenant moved from Unit G10 at the Sunspot and relocated to the larger vacant unit. Once the license was agreed a process of finding a new tenant for the now vacant unit commenced.
The Sunspot has an established waiting lists for retail and office units, with back-facing units being less in demand. The waiting list was reviewed, however, all applicants for shop units expressed a willingness to wait until a front-facing unit became available
In a situation where there are no potential tenants on the list, a process of advertising the unit and inviting an ‘Expression of Interest’ is carried out with a two-week open period. After this time, submissions are evaluated looking at their business model, financial sustainability and how it would complement the centre, existing tenants and the residents of Jaywick Sands.
Three expressions of interest were received for Unit G10 at the Sunspot. After evaluating of all three applications it has been agreed that Lets Go Round Again are the most appropriate business to secure the vacant unit.

Decision:

To allocate Unit G10 at the Sunspot to Lets Go Round Again and to provide a lease to allow them to trade from the building.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - Not to proceed with renting the vacant unit will reflect on the reputation of the building and the Council. It is essential that it provides a space that the community can use and be proud of and one that supports the businesses.
Not renting the unit will also have financial implications to the Council and will not support the building in its ability to be self- funding.
