Decision details
Decision Maker: Corporate Director (Planning and Community)
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: Yes
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
The Council's response, as a consultee, to the
statutory consultation on the 'Five Estuaries' Wind Farm proposal -
a 'Nationally Important Infrastructure Project' (NSIP) that will be
decided by the government through the national Development Consent
Order (DCO) process.
The Council's response highlights a range of concern about the
on-shore elements of the proposal - including its reliance on the
National Grid's 'East Anglian Green' Tilbury to Norwich powerline
proposal to which the Council, supported by many Councils across
East Anglia, has also issued strong objections.
TDC has worked with Essex County Council (ECC). ECC has submitted a
technical response, whereas TDC has issued a response that
highlights a range of community concerns.
Decision:
To issue a response highlighting community
concerns - reflecting the objections to the East Anglian Green
proposal.
Decision taking in consultation with the Interim Leader of the
Council.
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 - Issue a response highlighting
community concerns - reflecting the objections to the East Anglian
Green proposal.
Option 2 - Issue a response in support of the proposal.
Option 3 - Issue a response raising different concerns to those
raised by Members, and members of the public previously.
Option 3 - Issue no response.
