Decision:

To agree budgetary provision to fund the purchase of a Poolside CCTV system, to ensure adequate bather supervision at Dovercourt Bay Lifestyles in light of revised HSE guidance for swimming pools.

Reasons for the decision:

To introduce a “blended” approach to pool supervision by purchasing a “Poolside CCTV system” to complement and support the lifeguard on duty.  This is in order to provide a modern approach to pool supervision and to ensure compliance with revised HSE guidance in the 4th Edition of Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools.

 

Note – The Finance and Corporate Resources Portfolio Holder, Councillor C Guglielmi also given his approval to this decision.

Alternative options considered:

a)         To reduce the size of the scanning area of the pool, by introducing a lane rope.

b)         To increase the staffing establishment.
