Purpose:

To allocate £50 000 from the Public Health Improvement Projects budget which is provided by Essex County Council to Tendring District Council, to help extend the Essex Pedal Power scheme by the provision of adapted bikes and associated support

Decision:

To allocate £50 000 from the Public Health Grant funding provided to Tendring District Council from Essex County Council, for the provision of adapted bikes and associated support as part of the wider Essex Pedal Power scheme.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - to allocate £50 000 from the Public Health budget for adapted bikes and associated support as part of the Essex Pedal Power scheme. This is the preferred option as the Essex Pedal Power scheme focusses on Jaywick Sands and West Clacton where there are high levels of disability and deprivation and so will start to help address health inequalities in that area in an integrated way supported by a wider project in terms of Essex Pedal Power.
Option 2 - to not allocate the money and spend it in future on other public health initiatives
Option 3 -
