Decision Maker: Assistant Director (Economic Growth & Leisure)

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Tendring District Council are on The Tendring Education Strategic Board, and following discussions, three key priorities for 2020-21 were established and are noted within the attached letter. Following a survey of schools on these priorities, one of the key areas of feedback for both recruitment of teachers to the District and retaining teachers was the benefits package on offer/available to them. Therefore, the board was very keen to identify with Tendring District Council what their offer would be to this benefit package. The sports team has been working with Rebecca Morton, TDC’s Executive Projects Manager, regarding the inclusion of School Staff on their Lifestyles+ Emergency Services membership package.

Decision:

The Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Tourism has concurred with the Assistant Director’s decision to include those that work within a school setting within the Lifestyles+ Emergency Services’ membership package, offering a discounted rate. The proposal of including staff in a reduced membership package would support their health and well-being with the option of full access to the leisure facilities, including gym, swim, and fitness class activities across the District.
