In August 2018, the Government issued its
Rough Sleeping Strategy committing to halve rough sleeping by 2022
and to end it altogether by 2027.
Since June 2020 funding has been awarded to Tendring District
Council to help tackle the problems of rough sleeping found in the
Tendring area, and we have taken unprecedented steps to protect
rough sleepers during the pandemic.
This work has been undertaken in partnership with Anglia Care Trust
who provide intensive support to clients who are sleeping rough and
help them to find accommodation in the Tendring area, if this is
their home area, or locating back to their home area if it is
outside of our District.
They also engage with the sofa surfers to prevent them getting into
a position whereby they are sleeping rough.
Tendring District Council has secured additional funding until the
31st March 2022 to continue to support rough sleepers and those at
risk of sleeping rough.
To continue with our current agreement with
Anglia Care Trust to deliver rough sleeping outreach services in
the Tendring area.
