financial assistance where the level of works required exceeds the
value normally covered by the assistance options in the Financial
Assistance Policy for Private Sector Housing.
To offer a repayable grant in addition to the
home safety grant for a private home owner to enable urgent and
extensive works to be undertaken to make their property safe and
decent for habitation.
The decision fits in with the wider objectives of the policy.
1. Not to offer additional assistance - would
leave the owner living in unsuitable conditions with no alternative
housing options.
2. To offer additional assistance - would enable the owner to
continue living safely in the property.
