Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To decide whether to initiate an Energy Audit Assessment of all of the Council’s General Fund properties.

Decision:

That arrangements be made by Officers for Energy Audit assessments of all of the Council’s General Fund properties and that the cost of the assessments (estimated to be £70k) be met from the one-off budget of £150k for the development of a Climate Change Action Plan.

[Note: The budget referred to is that approved by Cabinet at its meeting held on 19 July 2019 – Minute 24 refers.]

Reasons for the decision:

To provide a solid base of information to guide future investment and improvement needs in advance of the proposed Carbon Reduction Action Plan.

Alternative options considered:

Not to undertake the assessment – this was discounted as this could delay improvements being realised and it may result in lost opportunities from asset management action that could be better informed by the outcomes of the assessment.
