Purpose:

The Lease of the Skating Rink in Dovercourt is due to expire in June 2020. Due to persistent late rent payments along with non-compliance with the repairing terms of the Lease, it is proposed to serve a Section 25 Notice that on expiry of the Lease the property will be returned to the Council and the Lease will not be renewed.

Decision:

In consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Corporate Finance and Governance, the Head of Property Services will arrange for a Section 25 Notice under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 to be served on the Tenant of the Dovercourt Skating Rink.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 -
To offer a lease renewal, however based on past experience with the tenant over the last few years, it is not considered that the situation with regard to the rent and repairing covenants will improve.
