Purpose:

To ensure grant monies are secured for BSL spend across the Authority on eligible project costs and training.

Decision:

To accept the Ministry of Housing Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) offer of The New Burdens Grant Payment received on the 18.06.2026 for £132,900 in respect of the Building Safety Levy.
The grant is being paid to meet Building Safety Levy related set-up costs. Prior to its implementation on the 1st of October 2026.

Alternative options considered:

Unitary Partners Braintree District Council and Colchester City Council have both elected to accept the grant.
