Purpose:

Essex County Council (ECC) are proposing a trial reuse scheme at Clacton Recycling Centre where garden items which have been left at the recycling centre by members of the public are made available to Dig 4 Jaywick.
Dig 4 Jaywick is a community garden project, run by Tendring District Council, in partnership with the Dig4 Jaywick Community Garden Group. The overall aim of the project is to promote the benefit of community gardening, help educate the public in horticulture and nature and provide resources and therapeutic activities.
Access to gardening equipment which has been deposited at the Recycling Centre will assist the sustainability of the Dig 4 Jaywick project.

Decision:

To accept and sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Essex County Council (ECC) and Tendring District Council (TDC) to participate in a trial for Dig 4 Jaywick, a TDC led project, to collect reusable garden items brought to Clacton Recycling Centre by members of the public.

Alternative options considered:

To not sign the MOU but this will mean that Dig 4 Jaywick will not be able to access further equipment which could help it become more sustainable.
