Purpose:

The Clacton Voluntary Lifeguard Service has been providing beach safety services for many years. Their presence has contributed to a safer environment for those enjoying the coast.
The Council has provided a grant payment for several years. The grant request for 2024/25 is £1,350, and this is also expected to be the same amount for 2025/26. This can be funded from the Beach Patrol Revenue account and there is a long-standing allocation for this grant in the Council’s approved base budget.

Decision:

A) The Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Public Realm concurs to the grant payment of £1,350 the Clacton Voluntary Lifeguard Service for 2024/25 and 2025/26 periods.

Alternative options considered:

Not to pay the grant fund, however this would affect the operations of Clacton Voluntary Lifeguard Service.
