To enable the Leader of the Council to agree an updated list of appointments including to external meetings and outside bodies.

That the appointments to external meetings and outside bodies etc. be agreed as set out in Appendix A to the report.

Having appropriate representation at external meetings and on outside bodies etc. ensures that the Council has a broad forum on which to take forward its priorities.

Not to make any appointments – however this was disregarded as the Council’s reputation and its ability to contribute to local and national issues may well be damaged if it withdrew support from external meetings and outside bodies. It was therefore felt to be important to ensure that the Council did have appropriate and adequate representation.
