Decision details
Decision Maker: Corporate Director (Place & Wellbeing) & Deputy Chief Executive
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
As you are aware, there was an equipment
review within the Beach Patrol service, which identified pieces of
equipment that were no longer fit for purpose and required
replacing. As a result, new quad bikes were purchased. It should
also be noted that a Jet Ski (yet to be replaced) is also
obsolete.
Alongside this, at Clacton Leisure Centre, a scissor lift is now in
a condition where further works are required to keep it
operational, for which it is not seen best value to do so following
costings and due to its low use and storage space it consumes. We
have, therefore, collated the list of equipment and outsourced an
external price for purchase from the two suppliers was
received.
As such, and under the disposal of equipment procedure, a
concurrence is requested.
Decision:
To approve the external (Ernest Doe &
Sons) purchase of equipment from the Sport and Leisure
Service.
The Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Tourism and Portfolio Holder
for Environment and Public Space have been consulted and both
concur with this decision being made.
Alternative options considered:
To not proceed with the external purchase of
equipment. However, as mentioned, this would result in the
equipment being obsolete and taking up storage space in designated
areas.
