Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Purpose:
To provide additional short-term resource to
Council’s property team to complete a range of work on the
Council’s estate, including developing and implementing plans
that will reduce the amount of energy required to run the estate,
at a time of rising energy costs, and in support of the
Council’s carbon reduction ambitions.
The decision is made in consultation with Cllr Michael Talbot,
Portfolio Holder for Environment and Public Space, and Cllr. Carlo
Guglielmi, Portfolio Holder for Corporate Finance and
Governance.
Decision:
To allocate £60,000 from the Climate
Action Fund, related to building repairs to recruit an additional
short term building surveyor resource.
Alternative options considered:
Option 1 - To allocate funding to recruit
additional short term building surveyor resource to complete work
on the council's estate including to progress projects to reduce
energy consumption and so carbon emissions.
Option 2 - Not to invest additional resource to progress estates
projects. This option is not recommended due to the benefits of
accelerating work on the Council's estate.
