Prior to submission to the Ombudsman, the
Council had accepted fault and apologised to the individual. It had
offered £200 in recompense. This financial offer was
considered appropriate by the Local Government and Social Care
Ombudsman (reference 21 009 980) when the matter was then
investigated by them.
To authorise the payment of £200 where
there was a finding of fault by the Council due to the unreasonable
length of time it took to properly assess an individual's medical
banding and the inadequate manner in which it communicated with
them about that process.
Option 1 - Not to abide by the
recommendations. This was rejected for the reasons set out in this
decision record.
