The Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) is a
Government initiative which allocates funding as an add-on to the
existing UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). Tendring has been
allocated £659,335, to be spent across years 2023/24 (25%)
and 2025/26 (75%).
The REPF is a capital funding opportunity with no allocation made
within it for resourcing or administration costs. As an add-on to
the UKSPF, Government anticipates that any resourcing costs will be
met through the 4% allocation made through that scheme.
This allocation is designed to replace the previous LEADER and
Growth Funds, which also focussed on rural areas, and projects
should address one or both of the following themes:
•Support for Rural Businesses
•Investment in Rural Communities
Rural, in the criteria, is defined as a village of less than 10,000
people, or a market town with significant supply to surrounding
rural areas, of no more than 30,000 people.
In order to access Tendring’s allocation, the Council must
submit an addendum to the original UKSPF Investment Plan (submitted
July 2022) to outline further identified REPF project/s. The
deadline to do so, via online portal, is 30th November 2022.
Decision Maker: Corporate Director (Economy & Place)
Decision published: 24/11/2022
Effective from: 23/11/2022
Decision:
To submit an addendum to the Council's
original UKSPF Investment Plan bid by the Government's deadline of
30 November 2022.
The Portfolio Holder for Business & Economic Growth, Councillor
Mary Newton was consulted, and she has concurred with the
submission of the investment plan addendum in order to access the
funding.

As part of this strategy, it's thought to
review Tendring District Councils' built facilities to ensure the
Sports Facilities are sustainable in the future. Additionally, it's
expected that the condition survey will support informed
discussions and decisions for the Sports Strategy delivery plan,
which would feed into a 10-year Planned Maintenance Programme,
prioritising the works required, recommending scheduling and
providing high-level budget costings.

The Community Safety Partnership sits within
the context of ‘place’ as part of the Department of
Health and Social Care’s White Paper - Integration and
innovation: working together to improve health and social care for
all.
Since its inception the Northeast Essex Health and Wellbeing
Alliance has been working collaboratively at the place level to
better understand the health and social care needs of its local
population this includes working together at place in the Community
Safety Partnership arena.
We know that crime and community safety issues within our
population are underpinned by the wider social determinants of
health and care, which are heavily influenced by the broad social
and economic circumstances into which people are born, live, work
and grow old. This can often mean that poorer individuals
experiencing worse environments to live and work than people who
are better off. Similarly, children growing up in more deprived
communities often suffer disadvantages throughout their lives, from
educational attainment through to employment prospects, which can
affect their physical and mental wellbeing and their likelihood of
being involved in crime and disorder and or risk-taking actions in
relation to drug and alcohol.
The North East Essex Health and Wellbeing Alliance has committed
funding to support the continued efforts with Tendring across place
and to support the work of the Community Safety Partnership.
Suffolk and North East Essex ICB (SNEE ICB) agree to transfer a
non-recurrent contribution of £35k to support the ongoing
work of these Community Safety Partnership Board until 2025.
Areas of focus can include supporting residents at risk of:
•Domestic and sexual violence
•Knife crime
•Risk taking habits including drug usage and alcohol
dependence
•The safety of the night - time economy
•Modern slavery
Decision Maker: Assistant Director (Partnerships)
Decision published:
Effective from: 17/11/2022
Decision:
To accept the funding and work with the
Suffolk and North East Essex ICB (SNEE ICB) to deliver agreed
projects.
Provide Suffolk and North East Essex ICB (SNEE ICB) with a biannual
report on the spending plans for the £35K per year until end
of 2025.
